Our Sustainability Pledge

We are proud to be an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative company but while we’re certainly at the forefront of the beauty industry for our sustainable and social impact, the journey is only at the beginning and we still have a way to go

We are undertaking a new promise and committing ourselves to stay accountable to update customers every 6 months on what we have achieved. As always, we want to be transparent with our community so here’s where we are proud to be in 2023 and of course what we’re working on both now and in the near future…

Sustainability Targets to achieve by 2025

We pledge to make lasting and meaningful change in a number of critical areas and are choosing to support 5 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)
We have chosen:

Responsible Consumption & Production

Climate Action

Decent Work & Economic Growth

Good Health & Wellbeing

Quality Education

Responsible Consumption & Production

Where we are: We have worked hard to make our products available to be ordered in as little as 2 weeks' usage, so our customers can easily switch them up according to their skins needs from our tailored Skin Diagnostic results without creating excess waste. The unique measured mono-dosage gives control over skincare routines to reduce waste and lighten customers skincare consumption.
In Winter 2022 we made our sample service free delivery to encourage customers to consume less by ensuring they are buying the right product for them.

Target: Better information leads to better decisions. We will minimise the impact of consumption with continued development of the Skin Diagnostic helping customers to waste less by buying better. We are in the process to begin work in partnership with Provenance, a program that acknowledges a product’s ethical credentials with clear, independently investigated Proof Points spanning an ever-growing range of social and environmental issues, meaning customers can effortlessly shop according to their principles.

Climate Action
Where we are: We deliver to your letterbox with no unnecessary packaging or complex materials to simplify the recycling process. Everything we deliver to your door is 100% recyclable and lightweight. 100% of our packaging is recyclable, 80% of our packaging is made out of Recycled PET. Progress not perfection, but we’re working continuously to improve where we can; we are in this together.

Target: Change across our supply chain and operations to not just offset our CO2 emissions, but to dramatically reduce it by 95%. Until we reach zero emissions, we are taxing ourselves for the carbon we do emit by working in partnership with Ecologi on certified carbon reduction projects.

Decent Work & Economic Growth

Where we are: We have pledged to work with a minimum of 3 other SME’s to leverage economic growth after Covid-19 and have worked continuously on a paid retainer basis throughout 2022 for PR, E-commerce development and PPC.

Target: We pledge to give a new working opportunity with a paid internship every year for a university student

Good Health & Wellbeing

Where we are: At Wǒ, we believe in living our lives in balance and harmony. We believe health & wellbeing directly impacts our skin's needs and so we work on building a comprehensive Knowledge Base that shares weekly articles on health & wellbeing educating on all topics from body confidence and postpartum care through to nutrition and mood. We partner with other health & wellbeing providers each quarter to share insight and offer collaborations.

Target: Further develop education on how health & wellbeing impacts skin. One such initiative is our regularly updated online journal, which provides free access to a wealth of information on various aspects of wellness, including nutrition, fitness, mental health, and more. Our goal is to empower everyone with the tools and knowledge they need to lead a healthy and fulfilling life. We also recognise the importance of taking care of our own team members, which is why we have introduced regular wellbeing time for staff. Each quarter, our employees are given paid wellness hours that they can use however they see fit to improve their physical, mental, and emotional health. By investing in our team's health and happiness, we believe we can create a more positive and productive work environment for everyone.

Quality Education

Where we are: We have been working with Nottingham Trent University since our conception to give Marketing students paid working experience and mentoring and continue to work in partnership with the university on ongoing opportunities. Wǒ founder, Karen Lee-Thompson supports student education by giving free guest lectures on a regular basis.

Target: At the heart of creating meaningful change lies the power of knowledge. Without it, we cannot hope to make informed decisions or take action that will have a lasting impact. We believe that everyone deserves the education and opportunity to thrive, regardless of their gender or background. That is why we are dedicated to supporting organisations that share our values and are committed to creating a brighter future for all. Through our partnership with a UK small charity, we hope to help build a more equitable and just world for women and girls everywhere.
