Fermented Ingredients In Skincare
Fermented ingredients in skincare have been around for much longer than you think. This technique originates from many parts of the world, particularly from Korea in Asia, dating back to the Joseon Dynasty, where it has been a part of their day to day skincare routine for hundreds of years. Fermented Korean skincare products have boomed in the last few years as more and more of us have discovered their benefits.
Does fermented skincare work?
The process of fermentation helps our skin to better absorb the product and reap more benefits from ingredient actives. When an ingredient is fermented its own microbes break down larger molecules into smaller molecules allowing the formulation to penetrate deeper and making each application more effective. Fermented Korean skincare applies a similar ideal to the process of fermented foods such as Kimchi and Paocai, which are known for helping your gut bacteria and improving your skin complexion.
Not only fermented ingredients in skincare improve efficiency, part of the process includes the breakdown of enzymes which form more concentrated nutrients, vitamins and probiotics and amino acids. Probiotics are great for the protection of your natural microbiome. The best fermented skincare will deliver numerous benefits such as UV protection, anti-inflammation, anti-aging and are more likely to be suitable for sensitive skin because of the breaking down of molecules.
Two of our 3 in 1 Daily Base™ are formulated with fermented ingredients. For example our Daily Base™ Comfort Balm contains Fermented Shiunko which boosts collagen and is renowned for its anti-inflammatory properties. Our Daily Base™ Aqua Gel contains fermented Marin Seaweed which helps with Hyaluronic Acid synthesis providing a plumping 'water bomb' effect on the skin.
The best fermented skincare will enhance the effectiveness of your skin routine, a promise Wǒ vows to deliver through our formulations and our ‘fresh every time’ mono-dose application.
